RamPage! v5.0 The Complete Paging
System for Wildcat 4.01+ only
Features:
- Paging Sub-Menu which offers users a colorful and useful alternative
to Wildcat's "Paging Sysop" prompt.
- Offers the option of an Emergency Page, this option (which can be
disabled if not desired) will sound the Emergency Page Alarm whether
the Wildcat page bell is turned on or off. The length of the Emergency
Page Alarm can be adjusted from within the RAMPAGE.CFG file. This
option is further protected by use of an Emergency Page Password.
- Forces users to leave "Reason for the page". User cannot page Sysop
unless reason is given. (Works for both normal and Emergency Page)
- Allows Comments to Sysop into ANY conference you desire.
- If user logs off from within the RamPage Menu, you can configure
RamPage to run your favorite LOGOFF.WCX file upon exit. If you do NOT
run a LOGOFF.WCX file, this option is easily disabled from within the
RAMPAGE.CFG file.
- Tired of those annoying users who page you all the time, and never have
anything important to say. You can now lock out individual users from
paging priviledges by placing their names in the RAMPAGE.BAD file.
Users who's names appear in this list will be given a FAKE PAGE and the
Sysop will not be bothered with them. RAMPAGE.BAD users also cannot
invoke the Emergency Page.
* I spent an ENORMOUS amount of time rewriting this sub-routine, so that
now, the Fake Page looks and acts EXACTLY like the normal page.
- If you have a desire to send a "SPECIAL" screen to users who are locked
out of paging the Sysop, you can create, and send any sort of screen you
like. If you prefer to play nice with your locked out users, you can
leave the option alone to keep Wildcat's internal "Sorry Sysop
unavailable for chat" screen.
- RamPage Main Menu (Both BBS and RIP) screens are completely Sysop
configurable. If you don't like the screens I drew, then feel free to
make your own.
- Full Activity Log accounting, so that if you are unable to respond to
a user's page, their reasons will be written to the log for later
review.
- Most importantly, RamPage is totally FREE! No registration fees, and no
annoying Un-Registered notices.
Installation of RamPage!
1. Place RAMPAGE.WCX, RAMPAGE.CFG, and RAMPAGE.BAD in any directory you
wish to run it from. I place all my WCX files in a subdirectory off
my main Wildcat directory. Example: C:\WILDCAT\CODES
2. Go to Makemenu and select Main Menu. Find [P]age Sysop and press enter.
Go down to COMMAND TYPE and press F2. Select RUN WCCODE PROGRAM towards
the bottom of the list. Then for parameters simply scroll the highlighted
bar through the correct path and until you find RAMPAGE.WCX. Simply
type ENTER on RAMPAGE.WCX to enable.
3. You absolutely MUST place the RAMPAGE.BBS, and RAMPAGE.RIP screens in
your Wildcat DISPLAY directory. This is the directory where your HELLO
Screens, and Goodbye screens are housed.
You can use the optional RAMPAGE2.BBS/RIP screens by renaming them to
RAMPAGE.BBS/RIP. Those optional files display the Emergency Page option
to users. On my system, I keep the Emergency Page option active, but
hidden.
4. Using your favorite TEXT editor, go into and modify the RAMPAGE.CFG file
to suit your needs. Don't be afraid to play around with the different
options. All information on RAMPAGE.CFG options are contained within the
CFG file itself.
5. Lastly, add any user name you desire into the RAMPAGE.BAD list. The user
names MUST be in all CAPS to work. I have included a copy of my personal
RAMPAGE.BAD for reference.
This WCX program is FREEWARE, so use it as you wish. This is my first
attempt at writing a WCX program, so as I learn more, the program will most
likely get more complex. But for now, it seems to work pretty good. Enjoy
it. If you desire a disclaimer, Use RamPage at your own risk! Although I have
tested RamPage extensively on several different Systems, and under many
different operating environments, I cannot guarantee that RamPage will work
perfectly on all systems. If you run into any problems, please let me know,
and I will attempt to fix the problem as fast as I can.
Many of you will notice that I have removed the source code from the RamPage
archive. This was done for several reasons. Mainly, I wanted to keep the
overall size of the archive down, especially since the more features I add
in, the bigger the WCX gets. If you would like to get a copy of the RamPage
source code, you can send me $5.00. I will then send you the latest version
of RamPage along with any of the other WCX programs I am currently working
on.
I was really impressed to see that RamPage made it onto the Dr. Sysop CD. I
would really like to hear from anyone out there who is using this program.
So if you are currently using RamPage, please send me some routed FIDO
NetMail telling me what you think of my very first attempt at programming.
I am also looking for any new ideas for addition into future versions of
RamPage. So feel free to send me any gripes, complaints, or suggestions.
